YIKES! Are we about to start out 0-2?

There has been a TON of anti-Brad Stevens and anti-Jaylen Brown talk the past couple of days.  Yeah maybe it is mostly the internet nutjobs out there creating a fuss, but the number of folks dissing the Celts on social media after the beatdown by the 76ers on opening night is substantial.  I wonder if their voices only get louder after tonight....

The Toronto Raptors come to TD Garden with something to prove. Yes they are the defending champions but every player in their locker room knows that most fans think Kawhi is the only reason they did it.  They know people are doubting them this year, and that gives the guys a little something extra when they step on the court.  The Raptors will be ready to go, and the matchup scares me.....

We all watched Pascal Siakam in the playoffs last year.  That dude took a huge leap.  He was awesome.  Athletic, fast, tall, rebounds - the type of player the Celtics will really struggle with from a matchup standpoint.  Then he comes out in game 1 vs New Orleans and puts up 34 points and 18 rebounds.  Who guards him?  Marc Gasol is a load in the middle so either Robert Williams or Daniel Theis (Kanter is out with an injury) will have their hands full with him.  That leaves Jaylen or Tatum to match up with Siakam.

It has to be Jaylen.  Brad Stevens needs to ask our new 100+ million dollar man to suck it up and play D and don't let Pascal score!  No foul trouble.  Just play solid D and box out a guy who is bigger than you.  It takes hunger and effort.  Some $100+ million guys don't have what it takes to do the small stuff in a game like this.  Does Jaylen? The people who have been defending his huge contract hope so.  So do I.  Or else we might be looking at an 0-2 start.

SIDE NOTE: I'm hoping Jaylen steps up and does the job but if he does'nt, tonight we might get to see a considerable amount of playtime for Grant Williams.  Grant has the strength, focus, and sound technical footwork to make it difficult for a guy like Siakam.  Hopefully.........
