Celtics now tied with Lakers for top record (6-1) in the NBA with 108-87 win over Hornets

The Boston Celtics are now tied with the Los Angeles Lakers for best record in the NBA. After Boston's convincing 108-87 victory over the Charlotte Hornets, both teams have a 6-1 record.

It was a close one, but 54% of respondents to my Twitter poll agreed with my stance that Marcus Smart needs to start over Jaylen Brown. Brad Stevens obviously did not agree with my proposal and went with Jaylen in the starting unit last night. I still feel strongly that Marcus needs to start games against strong teams with a superstar that needs to be slowed down - read the Milwaukee Bucks and Giannis Antetokounmpo here.

Jayson Tatum was high man for Boston with 23 points, and he was second in rebounds with nine. Tatum was right on target, shooting 47% from the field and 67% on 3-pointers. Gordon Hayward kept up his strong play with 20 points, a team-high 10 rebounds and six assists.

Kemba Walker won the battle of the point guards over former-Celtic Terry Rozier. Walker scored only 12 points on 4-of-12 shooting, but that exceeded Terry's mere three points on 1-of-11 from the field. Marcus Smart got into a bit of a dust-up with the Hornets Miles bridges in the fourth period, resulting in a technical foul on Bridges.

No one was totally sure what to expect from the Charlotte crowd upon Kemba's homecoming, but most felt the welcome would be a warm one. That is exactly what happened.

We got to see five minutes of center Vincent Poirier at the end of the game, and he came away with three rebounds, one steal and one block, while missing all three of his shot attempts. He looked a bit slow and tentative out there, and that should be expected. Hopefully, things improve with time and experience. Daniel Theis grabbed seven rebounds and blocked two shots. He is now averaging 2.4 blocks per game.

One point of conversation last night was about the Martin twins, Cody and Caleb. They appear identical in virtually every way, expect for the numbers on their jerseys. Expect some level of confusion when the take the court together for Charlotte.
